FS1508 Early and Unique Quilt Patterns from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania $165.
These quilt patterns are quite unique. A dealer that specializes in early textiles told me that she has never seen quilt patterns like these. What makes them so unusual is that each pattern is stitched around it's edges with tiny stitches in order to attach string to the pattern. It is such tedious and time consuming work, and I wondered why. Then I noticed what looked like chalk on some of them, perhaps this is how the design was transferred onto the quilt fabric. Maybe they just wanted to make the patterns more substantial and long lasting. These patterns come framed and sandwiched between 2 pieces of glass. They look wonderful hung on the wall as homage to American folk art. The patterns can also be removed easily easily from their frames. The largest pattern in the center measures 8 inches wide, and 4 inches high. The frame itself measures about 15-1/4 inches high and 12 inches wide. $165. Includes shipping.
Please NOTE: The photos below show collection resting on a fabric thaI place behind for a background. This item is clear glass, so naturally whatever background is behind it - well you get the point.
