Peter Koenig Peter Koenig is a master American artist craftsman. Painter. Woodworker. Maker of fine American art sign boards. He creates museum quality 18th and 19th century inspired trade and inn sign. Peter spent many years experimenting with materials and techniques to achieve this high level of representation. He uses both new and aged wood, found objects, such as old shutters, doors, box lids, etc., when appropriate. Koenig’s artistic ability and attention to detail allows him to create a finished product appearing to be an original period piece. Koenig is an Early American Life directory honoree four years in row.In November 2006, his work earned him a place in Wilton Connecticut's Historical Society’s American Craftsmanship Exhibit. With a gift for special materials and aging technique, Peter is able to achieve a real sense of antiquity. The artist resides in New York State, working from his barn-like studio. After an early American inn sign with a bee skep featured on the panel framed with pine molding. Measures 45 ½ x 23 ½ inches. The upper portion is of a triangular shape with a crescent cut out at its peak. A vine and leaf border decorates this mantel. The hardware, while functional, adds a nice esthetic to the piece.
