Angela Hillstrom
My whole life has revolved around art, in one form or another. About ten years ago it evolved into doll making. I had received a gift from my dear friend Sandi...an early rag doll with a faded brown dress....Olde Raggs U.S.A. was born from the inspiration of this doll that I love so much and will always love!! As time went on I became very involved in the history of early Folk Art dolls ...they were made from the heart in all shapes and sizes ...very well stitched and also not too nicely stitched...I LOVE them all ! I create from my heart and I am especially inspired by 19th. Century calicoes and homespun's in threadbare condition. I love the early and soiled hopefully giving these treasured pieces of cloth new life! My favorites are Black Folk Art Dolls, I feel these are my specialty. I reproduce in the early style by studying 1800's dolls and most of all my work is done from photo's of early dolls and interesting people from that period...famous or not. I so love my work and I am so fortunate to be able to do what I do and know that it brings joy to the many kind people that tell me so.
